Hi travel lovers,
So where to start? A few weeks ago I came back from a beautiful trip through Jordan! I have to say, it was one of my best travel destinations so far. This country has a lot to offer and you will find out why in this new blogpost now!
You probably are thinking why did you go to Jordan? Well, that’s quite a cool story. At my parents’ house we have a book with all of the seven world wonders! And of course, one of the world wonders is the beautiful Petra! And that is why we got the idea to go to Jordan!
Jordan is a destination that is sometimes misunderstood. The land of lost cities and epic adventures like Lawrence of Arabia (and Indiana Jones), it’s a place that should be much more popular than it is. Safe and hospitable, Jordan suffers guilt by association due to its location in the Middle East. But visitors who take the time to discover this peaceful country are rewarded with a taste of the exotic and a warm welcome from locals.
By the way I have booked my trip with travel agency www.kras.nl . In my opinion the best travel agency for travelling to Jordan. We booked a 7/8 day journey through Jordan with a personal Dutch speaking guide (he was so fun) and a bus which brought us everywhere. The trip was by the way with a group. The other people were very nice and we had the best time with each other!
Maybe you have followed me on Instagram Stories while I was visiting Jordan, but I was there with my mom. It was so fun! Since I don’t live at my parents’ home anymore, sometimes I miss them. And this holiday brought us closer to each other!
Here are just a few of the many reasons everyone should not only visit Jordan, but visit now.
Yes, it’s safe!
Before leaving to Jordan, my friends and colleagues asked me if my trip was a smart one. Every day we’re warned of dangers in the Middle East with little attention to the countries actually involved. The truth is that Jordan is a peaceful and stable country that happens to live in a bad neighborhood.
Wadi Rum desert
The natural beauty of Jordan is one of the aspects of traveling there that I enjoy most. One of the natural highlights to any trip though is to spend time in the UNESCO World Heritage protected desert known as Wadi Rum. We did a jeep tour across the desert and we stopped many times to drink tea or to enjoy te view. It’s also possible to spend the night in desert!
Amman
The capital of Jordan, Amman is a large and exciting city to spend some time in. From the top of the Citadel with impressive Greek and Roman ruins to the old souks and markets, you can easily lose yourself in the history of the city and Jordan itself.
Petra
History is easy to find not only in Petra, but throughout the country. The most famous hotspot, and the most popular destination in Jordan, is Petra. An ancient Nabatean city that was once a focal point of the trade between Africa, the Middle East with Europe and Asia, modern day travelers will recognize the iconic Treasury building from the movie Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade.
Dead Sea
The last day we went to the Dead Sea. The Dead Sea is over 400m (1,312 ft.) below sea level. The lowest point on the face of the earth! The leading attraction at the Dead Sea is the warm, soothing, super salty water itself. It was so fun. First we floated effortlessly on our back and then we greased mud on our bodies. Why? Because it makes your skin feel softer!
Jordan, a hidden gem in the Middle East. A beautiful country filled with stunning treasures, ancient cities and lovely people. This country has a lot to offer and it’s sad lots of tourists stay away because of the troubles in the Middle East (it’s totally safe). Don’t be afraid, live your life and make dreams happen!
